New Teamwork chapter

Hey everyone!

I have a new chapter of Teamwork up at AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/9493373/chapters/56174875.

It's been a little over eight months. However, I currently am not climbing, skating, square dancing, or commuting, so I'm going to try to get this WIP moving again.

I realized after posting it that I am so out of the flow that I didn't even think of sending it to a beta. I may make SPAG or Britglish corrections later.

Teamwork break (probably 4-5 weeks)

Hi all!

I'm going to be taking a short break from Teamwork. I've decided I would like to have Blood Magic -- or at least most of it -- on AO3 before Misti-Con, and I'm fairly certain I cannot interleave work on both. I'll probably put that up a few chapters most nights, like I did Snakes and Lions. It's 83 chapters altogether, but I have scheduled travel as well.

New Finder's Fee story on AO3

Hi all! I just posted Hunter's Bribe, a new story in the Finder's Fee series, on AO3. (I'll put it on Walking the Plank in a bit.) I'm back to an alternating Harry/Severus POV in this one, so the rating is back to NC-17. :-)

Summary: Harry and Severus head off to Shambala to catch an Asian Manticore ... if they can ever get the permits. Severus has a plan for that.
Pairings: Harry/Severus, Harry/OMC
Warnings: This story has coercion in a sexual context. I wouldn't call it rape (or even dub-con), because the sex isn't the issue. However, if you are prone to that trigger, you might want to have a close friend of better experiences read this first, to let you know if it's okay for you.
Also, bondage, D/s, cross-gen, (you knew those from the series, right?) delayed orgasm, forced orgasm, and illicit payments to government officials

Snakes and Lions repost

So the Snakes and Lions repost on AO3 has been going well. I have mostly resisted the urge to revise it -- except for the dialogue in Chapter 22, which I trimmed. However, I am now coming up on chapter 46. For some reason, I did a lot of just that chapter from Draco's POV, in a story that is in Harry's POV. It's in the section I added later, and I suspect I wasn't thinking about it as part of the larger work. I am seriously considering editing it to cut some scenes and redo the rest as something Harry sees.

Oh, any tag suggestions from those of you who like the story?

So, I am putting Snakes and Lions up on AO3 (at http://archiveofourown.org/works/9425093). It's very old -- I finished it in June 2003 -- and while it's mostly pretty good, there are occasionally scenes and word choices that make me cringe.

I've been gone for quite a while, but this story is not dead. As some compensation for the wait, this chapter is extra long! And still doesn't get to the scene I expected -- sigh! That will be in the next chapter, which is almost ready. This one is not Britpicked, and the next one probably won't be either, but I expect to have a Britpicker again in the fall (autumn). British readers, please feel free to let me know if anything is disruptively American. :-)

Hey, all!

Here at Leviosa2016. There's been some talk about the decline in community, and I've had a few questions as to whether I'd stopped writing. Without getting into too many details, I've had an energy-draining year, but I feel like I'm getting my mojo back. I have a Snarry story (in the Finder's Fee series) that I finished in January, and two chapters of Teamwork, which have been sitting unbeta'd. I've talked with a few people here about potentially beta-reading for me, and I think I'll have a new post or two soon.

So .. how are you all? Shall we have a fandom community and friending event? A week when everyone tries to log in?

Long posts and cross-posting (or why I no longer have an index on LJ)

My LJ used to start with a listing of all my HP fanfic. Today, I was editing something else and noticed the post was private, which it hadn't been. I tried to change the audience, and got an error it was "too large."

I originally had the alarming thought that this was a change and the post had been silently set private, but then realized it was more complicated than that.

Searching the help, LJ entries are limited to 65,535 bytes -- so about an 11,000-word fic if you're me (maybe 9000 for femmequixotic). :-) In this case, the actual text is well under that, but it has a lot of special html to include "highlight to read" warnings for people who want them, add quotes and summaries, sort by length, and cross-index by pairing. Looking back, this restriction has been around for a while. My (still untested) theory is that LJ does not set the text limit on a Private entry. I do all my actual posting from Dreamwidth, which is my preferred platform, and I have that set to cross-post to LJ as private so I can go adjust audience for explicit fic, and user tags for people who are not users by the same name on both platforms. Apparently the edits were accepted as Private on the cross-post despite going over the limit.

I've switched to showing the listing on Dreamwidth only, which will simplify maintenance, somewhat, and might even bring a little traffic to the better platform. Dreamwidth has a 300,000-character limit, so I'm not likely to go over that!

Icing my foot...

Considering I haven't worked on balance beam since 8th grade, I did okay. Except for that last time coming off when I didn't jump clear and caught my foot. Ouch.

I'm pretty sure it's nothing that Ice'n'Ibuprofen won't fix.

Despite this, enjoying Adult Gymnastics.
